About Me

In 2010 I was asked by Dave Peters if I would help him and Graham Paisley with the hundreds of Beatles fans who visited St Peter’s Church every year. It was my pleasure and privilege to do that for fifteen years, and now I want to bring that experience to a wider audience. This website will allow me to share my knowledge and experiences with people around the world, and not just those who have been lucky enough to visit Woolton in person.

I have loved history for as long as I can remember and I pursued that passion at the University where I earned a BA Honours Degree in American History and Politics in 1997, and an MA in American Studies in 1998. In 2002, I was awarded a PhD from the University of Cambridge, and I’ve been proud to hold the position of Senior Lecturer in Modern History at the University of Chester since 2007. In 2008, I was elected as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and in 2025 was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. For more about my academic specialties, please click HERE.

Since 2010, it has been my privilege to apply my training and expertise to preserving and sharing the history and heritage of St Peter’s Church, Woolton, and this website was created as a result of my love for all I learned, the people that I met, and the determination and desire to share that as widely as possible.
